FG Opens Applications For N1 Billion In MSME Grants

The Federal Government is set to disburse over N1 billion to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the 2026 National MSME Awards.

Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Job Creation and MSMEs, announced this during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said the awards portal will open on April 7 and close on May 7, urging businesses across the country to apply.

This year’s edition, themed “Renewed Hope for MSMEs,” will focus on financial grants designed to help businesses grow.

This year, we are focusing more on funding, giving grants that can directly support and grow MSME businesses.

The presidential aide noted that outstanding MSMEs may even be supported to participate in international exhibitions.

According to him, the awards will recognize innovation, creativity, job creation, and the use of technology.

Acknowledging past challenges with poorly prepared applications, Adekunle-Johnson said efforts are underway to raise awareness and encourage serious participation.

He assured that the selection process will be transparent and based on merit, with the grand finale scheduled for June 27 in celebration of United Nations World MSME Day.

Mrs. Sarah Ajayi, representing the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, outlined that about 12 categories would be featured, spanning sectors like manufacturing, agriculture, textiles, creativity, innovation, and beauty and wellness.

She stressed the importance of compliance, proper documentation, and high-quality video presentations showcasing production processes and value addition.

Other stakeholders at the briefing pledged support, promising collaboration to ensure fair selection, regulatory compliance, and mentorship programs to strengthen the growth and sustainability of MSMEs across Nigeria.
