In a recent interview on Channels Television, political commentator Majeed Dahiru expressed concern over what he described as an ongoing pattern of religiously motivated killings across parts of Nigeria. He argued that the violence against Christians has often been misrepresented or minimized, despite clear evidence showing that many attacks are driven by religious extremism.
According to Dahiru, jihadist groups that target Muslims do so because they view their victims as “not true Muslims,” while attacks on Christians are explicitly based on their faith. “The jihadists that are killing Christians kill them because they are Christians,” he said, insisting that this reality must be acknowledged openly.
Dahiru explained that the violence has reached a level where it could be considered genocidal, noting that genocide “always begins with one killing” and becomes defined by sustained attacks over time. He urged both the government and citizens to confront the truth and take concrete action to protect vulnerable communities.
He concluded by calling for honest national dialogue, insisting that recognizing religious persecution is the first step toward lasting peace and justice. More perspectives and reports on faith-based violence are available on Newshost Buzz.
