GES vows action after students assault teacher at Kade SHTS

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has condemned the assault of a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School and has assured the public that all those involved will be fully sanctioned.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 10, 2025,  and signed by Daniel Fenyí, Head of Public Relations, GES said it had seen a circulating video showing teacher Mr. Michael Quayson being attacked by a group of former students.

GES noted that it requested and received a preliminary report on the incident, which occurred on October 5, 2025.

According to the report, the former students allegedly assaulted the teacher because he was strict with them while invigilating the 2025 WASSCE Christian Religious Studies examination.

The statement added that neither the school authorities nor GES Management were informed at the time the incident happened.

“The issue was not reported to the school authority nor GES Management until the video recording of the assault circulated on social media.”

It added that Management had since taken control of the matter and that “investigations are currently ongoing”.

The Service condemned the attack, describing it as completely unacceptable.

“Management condemns the assault in the strongest terms as such behaviour is unacceptable, unlawful, and a direct affront to the dignity of the teaching profession,” the statement said.

GES also assured the public that the perpetrators would face the full consequences of their actions.

“The students shall face the appropriate sanctions provided by law and GES regulations to ensure justice is duly served.”

The Service further extended reassurance to teachers across the country, noting its commitment to their safety and the need to maintain discipline during examinations.

GES encouraged students to remain disciplined and respect school authorities, urging them to avoid acts that undermine the teaching and learning process.

“We urge all students to uphold discipline and respect authority,” the statement added.
