GPL 2025/26: I am ‘unfairly treated’ – Karim Zito hits back at critics

Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has blasted the media for what he describes as being “unfairly treated” following their disappointing run of form, which has been attributed to injury concerns.

Zito said 13 first-team players have struggled with injuries, which contributed to the Porcupines’ struggles in recent weeks.

Kotoko beat Dreams FC 1-0 on Sunday to end a four-game winless run in the Ghana Premier League.

“Some journalists are unfairly putting pressure on me,” Zito said in a post-match conference.

“When Pep Guardiola [Man City manager] says Rodri is injured, nobody complains. But when I say we have thirteen injured players, it suddenly becomes a problem,” Zito stated.

“Bashir [Heart of Lions coach] complained about the absence of three players, and nobody says anything. I speak about thirteen absentees, and it becomes a problem.

“You should be very honest with yourselves. I am not happy with the way you people are treating me.”

The latest victory sends Kotoko to third place on 24 points, three shy of leaders Aduana FC.

Up next for Kotoko is an away fixture against Eleven Wonders at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
