Have I Not Said It Before Now That The Way This Present Govs are Doing, They’ll Bury This Party–Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed deep concern over the current state of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), warning that the party could face total collapse if its leadership continues to exclude senior members from key decisions.

Speaking in Abuja on Friday, October 24, 2025, Wike lamented that several crucial meetings were being held without the participation of founding stakeholders, a development he described as “a clear sign of disrespect and disunity.”

According to Wike, “Have I not said it before now that the way these present governors are doing, they’ll bury this party?” He stated that the arrogance and disregard for party elders by some governors were undermining the very foundation that once made the PDP a formidable political force.

He recalled warning repeatedly about the dangers of sidelining experienced members and replacing inclusiveness with cliquish politics. “When people who built this party are ignored, you destroy the glue that binds the structure,” Wike said.

The minister stressed that the PDP’s internal divisions stemmed from weak leadership coordination and lack of consultation. He argued that for the party to survive, fairness, unity, and open dialogue must be restored.

Wike called on the governors and other stakeholders to prioritise the collective interest of the party over personal ambition, warning that if current trends persist, “the PDP will lose its identity and relevance before the next election.”

Despite his criticisms, Wike reaffirmed his loyalty to the party but insisted that meaningful reform must begin with transparency, inclusiveness, and respect for those who have laboured for the PDP since its inception.
