Hippopotamus k!lls 65-year-old man in Adamawa community

A hippopotamus attack has claimed the life of a 65-year-old man identified as Mal. Yakubu Kuri, in Kuri community, Shelleng Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

 

It was gathered that the deceased was attacked while fishing last Friday. 

 

The incident which came to light this week has thrown the community into mourning. 

 

Shelleng Traditional Council confirmed the tragic incident in a statement four days ago.

 

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raaji’un. It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the tragic passing of Mal. Yakubu Kuri, who lost his life following a hippopotamus attack,” the statement read.

 

“On behalf of the Shelleng Traditional Council, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, especially Faisal, and to the entire good people of Kiri. This painful loss is not only to the family but to the whole community.

 

“We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, grants him mercy, expands and illuminates his grave, and admits him into Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah grant his family and the people of Kiri the strength, patience, and comfort to bear this great loss. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Ameen.”
