Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has opened up about his preference for a simple, self-sufficient lifestyle, revealing that he does not keep house help and enjoys managing his home personally.
In an interview on The Clarity Zone podcast, Obi explained that he takes pleasure in cooking his meals, cleaning his surroundings, and attending to guests himself. He emphasized that this approach helps him stay grounded and connected to ordinary Nigerians.
Obi noted that despite having the means for a more luxurious lifestyle, he and his wife choose to live modestly. He shared that the couple divides their earnings, with his wife once using her share to purchase land and build a house. For Obi, the simple home he owns in Onitsha is more than sufficient.
He further mentioned that he enjoys spending time in a small corner of his house, as it brings him peace and allows him to enjoy his space without unnecessary stress. According to him, simplicity is a core value that keeps him focused and humble.
Obi stated, “I can’t live with a house help, I don’t have one, because I want to get up, do my little cooking, clean my environment, and everything. And I serve everybody that comes to my house.”
