Nollywood actress and producer Iyabo Ojo has been left deeply emotional and grateful after receiving an unexpected show of love from her fans during a movie meet-and-greet event in Lagos.
The popular actress attended the cinema gathering in support of her colleague Funke Akindele’s movie, Behind The Scenes, in which she also featured.
The Lagos cinema was filled with excitement as fans trooped out to watch the movie and meet the cast. However, the highlight of the evening came when Iyabo Ojo was pleasantly surprised by a group of loyal supporters who turned the event into a heartfelt celebration.
In a video later shared on her official Instagram page, the actress was seen being serenaded by fans who presented her with a framed gift and other thoughtful items, leaving her visibly touched.
Expressing her gratitude in the caption, Iyabo Ojo admitted that the moment caught her completely off guard. According to her, she was unaware that she even had a dedicated fan club. She wrote:
“THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who came out to watch BEHIND THE SCENES with me yesterday. Special shoutout to @iyaboojosocialfansclub, you guys surprised me. Didn’t know I had a fan group. Thank you for the MASSIVE LOVE! Keep watching, BEHIND THE SCENES is still in cinemas in Nigeria and the UK! 🇳🇬🇬🇧 Go see the movie, tell a friend to tell a friend.”
The actress used the opportunity to further promote the movie, encouraging fans in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom to head to the cinemas and spread the word.
Her excitement comes at a time when she is also preparing to celebrate her birthday in a few days. Iyabo hinted that there is more to come, boldly stating that she is “just getting started,” signaling bigger plans ahead for her career and personal brand.
Interestingly, the emotional moment stands in contrast to a statement she made last year, when she publicly called out her millions of fans and followers.
At the time, the outspoken actress accused them of showing her fake love, comparing their actions to the Nigerian government. She had stated that she felt deceived by those who claimed to support her but did not truly stand by her.
This recent surprise, however, appears to have restored her faith in genuine fan love, proving that loyalty still exists within the Nollywood community.
