According to NewsVista, Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, has made a startling revelation about his long-standing feud with his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi. Speaking on Politics Today on Channels TV, Wike claimed he risked everything — including his life — to ensure Amaechi became governor of Rivers State in 2007.
“I moved him to Ghana. That was the day I started wearing Babanriga,” Wike recalled emotionally. “I told my wife to take my kids away because I wasn’t sure I’d make it back alive.”
He accused Amaechi of later betraying him, acting as if he had done Wike a favour by pushing him aside politically. “He couldn’t have made it without me,” Wike said, pointing to his role as Director General of the campaign.
The FCT Minister insisted he never asked for financial control in the government but only requested to be made Chief of Staff. “I told Amaechi, I don’t want finance. Just let me be Chief of Staff.”
Wike challenged political insiders to confirm his account, mentioning names like Magnus Abe, Bello Adoke, and Marcus Nneji. “Ask them. I spent everything I had. Amaechi is a big liar.”
This follows his recent claim that Amaechi’s wife, Judith, allegedly received ₦48 billion annually through a controversial NDDC training scheme — a claim Wike says he’s ready to resign over if proven false.
