Nigerian kidney and liver disease survivor Abdulrasaq Owolabi Adebajo has shared a moving account of his health battle, describing it as a test of faith, resilience, and hope.
In an emotional interview on the Talk To B Podcast on November 11, 2025, Adebajo recounted how his health crisis began unexpectedly, initially resembling a mild illness. “It started like a fever or malaria, but within days I was diagnosed with kidney failure,” he explained. The situation worsened when, shortly before his scheduled kidney transplant, doctors also discovered liver disease.
He revealed the financial strain of the medical ordeal: “I was told I needed ₦25 million for my kidney transplant. Just a week before the procedure, the doctors informed me that my liver was also failing, and I would need a combined kidney and liver transplant—a procedure not performed in Nigeria.”
Despite the daunting challenge and the financial burden, Adebajo said he refused to lose hope. “At that moment, I was about to give up, but I believed that if there is still life, there is still hope, something can still happen,” he said, reflecting both his pain and resilience.
