If Muslims in Nigeria Choose to Live by Sharia & Blasphemy Laws, It’s None of US Business—Shehu Sani

According to our report, former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has fired back at the United States following Donald Trump’s claim that Christianity in Nigeria is facing an “existential threat.”

Sani described Trump’s comment as misleading and dangerous, warning that such statements only fuel religious division in the country. He insisted that Nigeria’s insecurity affects both Christians and Muslims, noting that many Muslim communities have actually suffered more deaths due to terrorist attacks in the North.

The former senator also criticized a U.S. bill sponsored by Ted Cruz, which seeks to sanction Nigerians enforcing Sharia or blasphemy laws. Sani called the move “an attack on the cultural and legal identity of Nigerian Muslims,” questioning why Saudi Arabia and Qatar are not treated the same way.

He stressed that Nigeria is a sovereign nation and must be allowed to define its own laws without foreign interference.

“If Muslims in Nigeria choose to live by Sharia, it’s nobody’s business,” Sani said firmly.

He urged America to focus on helping Nigeria fight terrorism instead of deepening religious tension.

What’s your take on this — is Sani right about sovereignty, or should the U.S. intervene?
