“I’m married but I’m not in my husband’s house” — Gospel singer Shola Allyson opens up about her marriage

Nigerian gospel singer Shola Allyson has shocked many with a rare, honest revelation about her marriage.

During a new interview with Oyinmomo TV, the 54-year-old singer — known for her classic love album Eji Owuro — said she is still married but no longer lives with her husband.

According to her, the fairytale many people describe in marriage has never been her reality.

“I’m married, but I’m not in my husband’s house. We live separately,” she said.

When asked if she ever experienced genuine love — especially since she sang one of Nigeria’s most iconic love songs — Shola explained that older generations misled many into thinking love alone guarantees a happy home.

In her words, “We lied before. Those older than us didn’t inform us that it’s tough. They made us believe that so long as you both love each other, you will live happily ever after, but it’s a lie. That’s not the experience I have. I didn’t have the experience of living happily ever after. I did all I could to make it work.”

Her confession has already started stirring reactions online as fans say they didn’t expect such a vulnerable revelation from the singer.
