In My Days, I Was One Of Those Controlling The Drink Business, I Drink Only One Alcohol -Peter Obi Yomitee

Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate, has opened up about his personal approach to alcohol, revealing that he consumes very little despite once being a major player in Nigeria’s alcoholic beverage market.

Speaking on The Clarity Zone Podcast, Obi said that during his business career, he was deeply involved in the drink industry and was among those who controlled the market. However, he clarified that his professional involvement did not translate into personal consumption.

The former governor explained that he drinks only one bottle of stout occasionally, typically on Saturdays, at home. He emphasized that his lifestyle choice is a matter of personal discipline rather than a moral stance against alcohol consumption.

Obi stated, “I’m not saying those who drink are wrong o. I used to be a businessman selling drinks. In my days, I was one of those controlling the drink business. I don’t drink o. I drink only one alcohol. I drink stout once a week, like on Saturdays I drink in my house one bottle.”

He further highlighted that success in business does not require adopting the habits associated with the industry one operates in, underscoring the separation between professional engagement and personal lifestyle.
