According to our report, former Israeli diplomat Alon Pinkas has expressed doubts that the current US-brokered ceasefire in Gaza will lead to a long-term political solution with the Palestinians. Speaking to Al Jazeera, Pinkas described the truce as a tactical pause, noting that humanitarian aid entry was largely due to US pressure.
He stressed that without mechanisms to compel Hamas to disarm or the deployment of an international stabilization force, long-term stability remains unlikely. “You can’t scream for two years that you want Hamas out, and then reject the UN, Turkey, and Qatar when an international force is proposed,” Pinkas said.
His comments reflect broader concerns within Israeli circles that, without credible enforcement and a coherent international strategy, the ceasefire is only a temporary measure, not a path to lasting peace.
