I’ve No Problem With The Military,And I’ll Never Will–Why Would I’ve Issues With The Government–Wike

Nigerian Tribune reports that Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has addressed recent controversy involving Lieutenant Yerima, stressing that the incident was personal and not a challenge to the Nigerian military or the government.

Speaking on the matter, Wike reiterated his profound respect for the armed forces, noting that his actions should not be misinterpreted as hostility. “I have respect for the military, and I will continue to respect them. I understand what the institution represents,” he said, highlighting a record of continuous support for Nigeria’s defense establishment.

The minister dismissed claims that he harbors any animosity toward the military, calling such assertions unfounded. He clarified that the disagreement was private and said, “I’m not foolish; I have an education. So anyone suggesting I have issues with them is mistaken.”

Wike further assured Nigerians that his commitment to maintaining law and order in the FCT aligns with his respect for the military, emphasizing that he has no intention of undermining their integrity or the government’s relationship with them.
