A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Architect Uche Rochas, has expressed confidence that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, will eventually regain his freedom.
According to a post shared on his official X handle on Monday, October 26, 2025, Rochas clarified that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration was not responsible for Kanu’s arrest, noting that his detention remains a politically inherited issue from the previous government.
He explained that while the Tinubu administration did not initiate the arrest, it is aware of the political sensitivity surrounding Kanu’s case and the importance of resolving it peacefully. Rochas predicted that although Kanu may soon be released, his influence will likely diminish afterward.
In his words, “Nnamdi Kanu wasn’t arrested by Tinubu’s government, and BAT’s administration knows that he is a thorn in their flesh. They will eventually release him and set him free, but he will be completely powerless after his release, and he must believe in Nigeria.”
Rochas ended his statement with the phrase “peace through strength,” emphasizing the need for unity and reconciliation. His remarks have since sparked mixed reactions online, as Nigerians debate whether Kanu’s release would truly end the agitation or reignite fresh political tensions.
