Acclaimed Nigerian filmmaker Kemi Adetiba is stepping into a bold new creative phase with the announcement of her upcoming feature film, The Stool. Touted as an epic production, the project marks her fifth feature film and signals a significant evolution in her storytelling journey.
Following the massive success of earlier works like King of Boys and The Wedding Party, Adetiba is raising expectations once again with a film she describes as ambitious, daring, and worth the wait. Unlike her previous projects, The Stool is being positioned as a larger-scale cinematic experience, one that aims to push creative boundaries and explore deeper themes.
As of April 2026, the film is currently in its pre-production stage, with casting calls already underway. In a move that has generated excitement across the industry, Adetiba has opened auditions to actors from around the world, encouraging both established and emerging talents to participate. This inclusive approach reflects her desire to discover fresh faces and bring diverse perspectives into the project.
While specific plot details remain tightly under wraps, the filmmaker has hinted that The Stool will revolve around powerful themes, likely touching on leadership, legacy, and human complexity. Described simply as an “epic,” the film is expected to deliver a rich narrative filled with memorable characters and emotionally charged moments.
Adetiba has also called on her loyal fanbase, often referred to as the “KOB Family,” to bring their best energy and creativity to the audition process. Known for her meticulous casting choices, she is seeking performers who can embody depth, authenticity, and intensity—qualities that have become trademarks of her productions.
The film is being developed under her production company, Kemi Adetiba Visuals (KAV), which has been behind some of her most successful projects. With KAV at the helm, expectations are high for a polished and high-quality production that will resonate both locally and internationally.
Beyond The Stool, Adetiba continues to build an impressive slate of projects that reinforce her influence in the industry. One of the most anticipated is King of Boys 3: The Beginning of the End, which is slated for a December 25, 2025 cinema release. The franchise has already established a strong fanbase, and the upcoming installment is expected to expand its gripping political and criminal narrative.
In addition, her crime thriller series To Kill A Monkey, which premiered on Netflix in July 2025, achieved global success by entering the platform’s Top 10 rankings. The series further cemented her reputation as a filmmaker capable of delivering compelling, internationally appealing content.
Another project, Welcome To The Fourth, has also been teased as part of her growing catalogue, though details about it remain scarce.
With The Stool, Adetiba appears ready to take an even bigger leap, both creatively and technically. The film is already being described as a defining moment in her career—one that could set a new benchmark for epic storytelling in Nollywood and beyond.
For aspiring actors, the project presents a rare opportunity to work with one of Africa’s most respected filmmakers. For audiences, it promises a cinematic experience that blends powerful storytelling with unforgettable performances.
As anticipation builds, one thing is clear: The Stool is shaping up to be more than just another film—it could be a landmark project that redefines the scope of African cinema.
