A family of five kidnapped in Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area, Edo State, has been released after paying a reduced ransom to their abductors, according to a Daily Trust News report on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
The Bello family—Nurudeen, Waheed, Haruna, Usena, and Matilda—were reportedly attacked while working on their farm at Ivianokpodi. Gunmen stormed the area in large numbers and abducted the family into the bush.
Initial reports stated that the kidnappers demanded N100 million but later lowered the ransom to N15 million. In addition to the cash, the kidnappers also reportedly requested food, drinks, and hard drugs valued at N300,000. The ransom was paid, and the victims were subsequently released safely.
Residents expressed relief at the safe return of the family and urged authorities to intensify security measures in the area.
