Two residents of Giron Masa, Kebbi State, were reportedly rescued after kidnappers fled into the forest following an armed confrontation with police. The victims, Suleiman and Yunwa Suleiman, were allegedly kidnapped in the Kwari community within the Shanga Local Government Area.
According to Kebbi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, a team comprising police officers, military personnel, and local vigilantes engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel. During the encounter, the kidnappers reportedly abandoned their victims and fled, sustaining injuries in the process.
Abubakar confirmed that the swift response helped secure the release of the two residents without further harm. He added that authorities are continuing to pursue the fleeing suspects to prevent further attacks in the area.
