Kidnappers: They Beat Me With Cutlass On My Buttocks, They Mocked Me Saying If I Could Afford BBL,I Must Pay-Sey

Nigerian actress and fashion designer Grace Sey has recounted a terrifying kidnapping experience in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, during which her assailants physically abused her based on assumptions about cosmetic surgery. In an interview with PUNCH Newspapers, Sey revealed that her captors believed she had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) due to her well-shaped body.

“They beat me with the flat edge of a cutlass, especially on my buttocks. They teased me, saying my body was too perfect and assumed it was due to cosmetic surgery,” Sey said. “They claimed that if I could afford a BBL, I could easily pay the ransom.”

Despite repeatedly insisting that she had never undergone surgery, her explanations were dismissed. “I told them I had never done any surgery and didn’t even know if a BBL could rupture, as they threatened. They also mocked me for being an actress, presuming I was rich,” she added.

Sey described the physical and emotional impact of the ordeal, noting that the injuries still affect her. The incident began after she completed a film project in Uyo, with the kidnappers targeting her under the assumption that successful entertainers with fit bodies are wealthy. Her story has sparked conversations about the harmful stereotypes linking celebrities’ appearances to affluence.
