A lecturer has sparked debate on social media after sharing how she advises her son to respond if confronted physically by a girl.
In a tweet, she referred to a viral video where a man proposing to his girlfriend was slapped and walked away without responding. She wrote that she had shown her son, Akorede, the video with a “serious warning” that if a similar situation happened to him, he must respond with a stronger slap, or she would “cease to consider him her son.” She added,
“Lion no dey born Goat!”
The tweet drew immediate reactions from X users, with one asking:
“Lmaoo, you’re encouraging your son to hit a woman??”
The lecturer replied:
“I’m teaching my son how to fight back. I’m teaching my son how not to be bullied. Teach your own sons how to receive hot slaps. That’s your family business.”
Other X users shared their views. One commented:
“If you raise your kid well, you don’t need to tell them what to do in specific moments; when they grow up, they just know.”
She responded:
“Telling them what to do in specific moments is part of raising kids.”
Some users criticised her advice. One wrote:
“A mother advising her son to hit a woman. This is why mothers shouldn’t raise kids unsupervised. All single mothers are the cause of loose girls and toxic men in our society.”
The lecturer defended her position:
“You’re so mad. My hubby is a Lieutenant Colonel. God will take you for this nonsense you commented.”
Another X user suggested teaching her son to avoid such situations instead, to which she replied:
“Go ahead and raise your own son how you see fit. I and my hubby have raised ours how we see fit. Thanks!”
