A man has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of misconduct, claiming the agency no longer accepts bail payments in naira and now demands foreign currency instead.
The man made his allegations in a video shared on social media, stating that his brother is currently in the custody of the anti-graft agency.
He raised concerns about what he sees as a move away from using Nigeria’s local currency, questioning when the country started operating with dollars instead of naira.
The man also claimed that EFCC officers raided his apartment while he was away, taking several personal items.
He listed perfumes, power banks, wristwatches, drinks, and personal hygiene products among the items removed, adding that more could have been taken if they had found them during the raid.
He said, “I want you to be aware that EFCC do not collect bail in Naira again. This one no be say person tell me; na wetin my brother dey face. I don’t know when Nigeria started operating with Dollars, instead of our own local currency.
“EFCC raided my apartment and made away with my perfume, my power banks, watches, If they had seen ringlight, they would have stolen my ring light too.
“How you go come raid my house when I no dey? You spray my perfume, you steal am; steal drinks Tell me what EFCC is doing with my perfume. Even PS pad they stole it…”
