Man Utd Turn Down Jhon Duran Loan Due to Wage Demands – Focus Shifts to Other Targets

Manchester United have rejected the opportunity to sign Colombian striker Jhon Duran on loan from Al-Nassr, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.

The 21-year-old forward, who made a high-profile £66 million move to Saudi Arabia from Aston Villa in January, was offered to United on a loan deal that would have required them to cover his full wages — reportedly over £336,000 per week.

Speaking via his YouTube channel, Romano stated:

“Manchester United were offered the chance to sign Jhon Duran on loan from Al-Nassr, with his wages covered. But they decided to turn down the proposal to pursue different options.”

Despite showing promise at Aston Villa and briefly impressing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, United’s decision reflects their cautious approach to spending under ongoing financial constraints and a broader strategy to trim the wage bill.

Duran is now on the verge of joining Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, where he is expected to play a central role in the Turkish club’s revamped attack.

Meanwhile, United have already secured Matheus Cunha and are reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, with manager Ruben Amorim still pushing for another centre-forward before the 2025/26 season kicks off.
