A pastor from Kirinyaga, identified as Joseph, has shared the emotional ordeal he faced while serving time in prison, revealing how his absence affected his family and marriage. His story has drawn attention to the challenges families face when a member is wrongfully accused and imprisoned.
Joseph explained that he had been working as a truck driver, transporting goods across Kenya, while also founding and overseeing several churches. During one trip, his truck developed mechanical problems, which he attempted to fix while communicating with his employer. Upon returning from a delivery, he was arrested and accused of theft after goods went missing, despite his explanations. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.
While serving his sentence, which lasted a year and three months before a successful appeal secured his release, Joseph learned that his wife had formed a relationship with a male relative. Attempts to reach her by phone were unsuccessful, and the news caused deep emotional distress. Upon his release, he discovered that she had informed neighbors he was serving a life sentence.
Joseph eventually forgave his wife for the betrayal, though they ultimately divorced. He now focuses on raising his three children and is looking forward to building a stable future with a partner who will support his family.
