According to our report, the World Zionist Organization (WZO) is set to approve a new executive list that excludes Yair Netanyahu, despite reported pressure from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. Sources within the WZO confirmed there is currently no path for his inclusion, with the Zionist General Council unlikely to approve his nomination.
Under the proposed appointments, Rabbi Doron Perez, father of Cpt. Daniel Perez who was killed in the October 7 Hamas attack, will become WZO chair, with current chairman Yaakov Hagoel taking over midway through the five-year term. The draft also includes around 30 other executives, with space for two additional members to be added later by the World Likud party.
The WZO plays a pivotal role in global Zionist activities, supporting Jewish communities, immigration to Israel, and educational initiatives. Yair Netanyahu’s exclusion highlights ongoing scrutiny of the Prime Minister’s family’s political involvement while ensuring leadership reflects diverse Zionist representation.
