The Nigeria national football team were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against the Jordan national football team in an entertaining international friendly encounter played on Tuesday evening.

Jordan began the match on the front foot, showing early attacking intent and putting the Nigerian defence under pressure.

Their bright start paid off in the 17th minute when Musa Al-Taamari found the back of the net with a composed finish after a well-coordinated move. The early goal energized the home side, who continued to push forward in search of a second.

Nigeria, however, gradually settled into the game and began to assert control, particularly in midfield. Their efforts were rewarded in the 25th minute when Moses Simon restored parity with a calm and clinical finish.

The equaliser sparked a shift in momentum, as the Super Eagles grew in confidence and began to dictate the tempo of the game.

The visitors capitalised on their dominance by taking the lead before halftime, completing a turnaround that gave them a narrow advantage heading into the break.

Their attacking play improved significantly, with better coordination and movement causing problems for the Jordanian defence.

In the second half, both teams made a series of substitutions, using the friendly as an opportunity to test different players and tactical setups.

Nigeria enjoyed more possession but struggled at times to convert their control into clear-cut chances, while Jordan remained dangerous on the counterattack.

The hosts eventually found their equaliser in the 77th minute, taking advantage of a defensive lapse from Nigeria to make it 2-2. The goal set up a tense finish, with both sides pushing for a late winner.

As the match approached its conclusion, tempers began to flare, leading to several bookings. Nigeria’s task became more difficult in stoppage time when Alex Iwobi was sent off for violent conduct, reducing the team to ten men.

Despite late pressure from both sides, neither team could find the decisive goal, and the match ended in a draw.

While Nigeria will take positives from their attacking display and resilience, they will need to address defensive lapses and discipline issues.

Jordan, on the other hand, can take confidence from their performance against a strong African side, having matched them throughout an engaging contest.
