One Of My Colleagues Questioned Why I Had Posted A Picture Of Myself In My Cleaner’s Uniform —Lasisi

According to our report, Romoke Lasisi, who once earned ₦30,000 a month working as a cleaner in Lagos, has defied all odds to graduate from the University of Ilorin with a staggering 4.94 CGPA in Mathematics. Her story, a remarkable journey of resilience and determination, has captured hearts across Nigeria.

Romoke’s path wasn’t easy. After her aunt moved away, she struggled to support herself and took a cleaning job at Guaranty Trust Bank, carefully saving half of her modest income each month while using the rest for basic needs. Her determination to pursue education never wavered.

With the support of an elderly couple she met through her Imam, Romoke prepared for another JAMB attempt and eventually gained admission into UNILORIN. Along the way, a social media post she shared in 2021, showing herself in her cleaner’s uniform, went viral. When asked why she posted it, Romoke explained, “I asked myself why I should hide what I do to survive. This is who I am, and I won’t be here forever.”

Her message was clear: dignity lies in honest work, and your current situation does not define your future. Today, Romoke’s journey continues to inspire Nigerians to embrace their struggles and pursue their dreams relentlessly.
