Osun State governor Ademola Adeleke has emerged as the Accord Party’s candidate for the 2026 governorship election.
Abdulazeez Salaudeen, secretary of the party’s electoral committee, announced the outcome on Wednesday.
He said Adeleke received 145 out of the 150 votes cast, while the remaining five votes were ruled invalid.
All 150 delegates drawn from the 30 local government areas took part in the primary held in Osogbo, the state capital.
Salaudeen explained that the voting and counting were conducted in the presence of the candidate’s representatives and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He then declared Ademola Adeleke the winner of the primary.
Earlier in the day, the screening committee confirmed Adeleke as the only aspirant cleared to contest.
Committee chairman Ibe Thankgod said the governor met all the nomination requirements.
KanyiDaily recalls that Governor Ademola Adeleke defected to Accord on Tuesday, just days after quitting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
