PDP Leadership Crisis Deepens As Top Officials Face Suspension Over Court Ruling

According to our report, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has plunged deeper into crisis as its National Working Committee (NWC) suspended four senior officials following a court order that stopped the party’s planned national convention.

Those affected include National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Deputy Legal Adviser Okechukwu Osuoha, and National Organizing Secretary Umaru Bature.

In a statement from Abuja, the NWC said the suspension, which will last for one month, is to allow investigations into what led to the legal tussle that embarrassed the party. Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum reportedly chaired the emergency meeting where the decision was made.

Party insiders told our source that the move aims to restore order and prevent internal chaos from crippling the PDP ahead of 2027. But not everyone agrees — loyalists of the suspended officials are calling it a witch-hunt, accusing Damagum of using the court ruling to silence rivals.

Supporters of Damagum, however, insist that no one is above party discipline and that the action was necessary to protect the PDP’s integrity.

Analysts warn that if reconciliation doesn’t happen soon, the opposition party may lose its footing as a strong alternative to the ruling government.
