The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued a three-day-old baby boy who was kidnapped from his mother’s home and arrested two people linked to the incident.
The police spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, disclosed I this in a statement on Thursday.
He explained that the baby’s mother, Aisha Bada, 19, who lives in Unguwan Bako near Orange Market in Mararaba, reported the case to the police on March 29 after her newborn was taken.
“On 28th March 2026 at about 1150 hours, while she was asleep with her three-day-old baby in her uncompleted building located at the outskirts of Unguwan Bawa, Orange Market, two unidentified men broke into the house, threatened her with violence, and abducted the baby to an unknown destination,” he said.
According to him, her husband, Abubakar Isah, who works as a tricycle rider, was in Lagos for business and had been away for about five months.
After receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, ordered officers from the Mararaba ‘A’ Division to investigate the case.
Nansel said that based on useful information, police officers carried out an operation around 4 a.m. on Thursday and arrested two suspects, Furera Abdulrahman, 35, and Sadiya Abdullahi, 39, and the missing baby was found with them.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and implicated an accomplice who is currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect,” he added.
The baby was taken to the Medical Centre in Mararaba, where doctors confirmed he was healthy before he was discharged. He has now been safely reunited with his parents.
The police spokesman said the case will be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further investigation after preliminary inquiries are completed.
