Power Minister Bayo Adelabu Declares 2027 Governorship Ambition in Oyo State

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has officially declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship election in 2027 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adelabu made this known on Friday during consultations with APC leaders and members in Ogbomoso and Oyo town, signaling the beginning of his statewide engagement ahead of the race.

“I’m Ready to Contest and Unite the Party” – Adelabu

Speaking to party faithful in Ogbomoso, Adelabu affirmed his readiness to run for office and welcomed internal party competition, assuring stakeholders that no candidate will be imposed on the APC.

“I’m fully prepared to contest and willing to go through the party’s democratic process. No one will be forced on the APC,” he stated.

He also used the occasion to call for reconciliation within the party, urging aggrieved members to put the past behind them and focus on winning back power in 2027.

Pledges Inclusive Leadership and Lessons Learned

Adelabu promised to lead an inclusive administration if elected, adding that he has learned from his previous political outings and is better prepared this time.

“Ogbomoso and Oyo hold special significance in the political structure of this state. I’ve taken lessons from the past, and I believe the time is right for me to serve Oyo State as governor,” he said.

Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Bid

The minister also used the platform to drum up support for President Bola Tinubu’s potential second-term bid, stating that the Yoruba region deserves to complete another full term in the presidency.

“This is our time to consolidate our influence at the national level. Supporting President Tinubu will secure a complete Yoruba tenure,” he added.

Party Leaders Endorse Call for Unity

Key supporters, including Ayoade Adeseun and Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, rallied APC members to work together and ensure the party regains control of the state in 2027.

They echoed Adelabu’s call for unity, saying only a united front can defeat the ruling party in the state.
