Qatar has criticized Iran’s attack on it’s gas facility, Ras Laffan Industrial City, and ordered Iranian diplomats to leave the country within 24 hours.
In a statement on Thursday, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior said Civil Defence crews put out the fires without any casualties.
The ministry emphasized that cooling work and security checks are still ongoing, and specialists from the Internal Security Force are dealing with dangerous materials.
Qatar expelled Iran’s military and security officials, along with their teams, giving them 24 hours to leave.
The ministry said Iran’s strike on Ras Laffan — one of the world’s most important gas processing and export hubs — caused major damage and constituted a “dangerous escalation.”
They described it as a direct threat to both national and regional security.
Qatar warned that any further attacks would lead to additional action, noting that it has the right to respond under international law.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered an official note to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the State, stating that Qatar considers both the military attache and the security attache at the embassy, in addition to the staff of the two attache offices ‘persona non grata’, and requests that they leave the country within a maximum period of (24) hours,” the ministry said.
“The continuation of this hostile approach by the Iranian side will be met with additional measures by the State of Qatar, in a manner that ensures the protection of its sovereignty, security, and national interests.”
The ministry added that Qatar “reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and security, in accordance with the provisions of international law.”

Iran’s attack on Qatar came after earlier Israeli strikes on energy facilities in South Pars and Asaluyeh.
The South Pars field, which Qatar shares with Iran, is the largest gas reserve in the world and plays a major role in global LNG supply.
QatarEnergy produces about 18.5 billion cubic feet of gas daily from its side of the field, helping the country meet roughly 20% of global LNG demand.
Iran produces less, with most of its output used domestically.
Experts say the back-and-forth attacks could disrupt energy supplies across the region, including flows from Iran to countries like Iraq and Turkey, and may affect global markets.
Iran also reportedly tried to target energy facilities in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
US President Donald Trump said the United States was not aware of Israel’s strike on South Pars beforehand and stressed that Qatar was not involved.
“The United States knew nothing about this particular attack. Qatar was in no way, shape, or form involved”, he ssid.
He added that Israel would not launch more attacks on the field, but warned that the US would respond if Iran continues to target energy infrastructure.
The strikes by both Israel and Iran have drawn widespread criticism from countries in the region and around the world.
