The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has revealed plans to contest the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) recent ruling that stripped Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title, awarding the championship to Morocco.
On Tuesday, the CAF Appeals Board overturned the previous decision of its Disciplinary Committee, declaring that Senegal forfeited the AFCON final. The ruling followed a series of incidents during the match, including multiple Senegalese players leaving the field in protest over a referee’s call. CAF cited violations of Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament regulations as the basis for the forfeiture. Morocco had initially appealed the earlier dismissal of its protest, which challenged the legitimacy of Senegal’s on-field conduct.

“To defend the rights of Senegalese football and protect the integrity of our teams, the FSF will promptly file an appeal before CAS,” the statement read. “We remain committed to upholding the principles of integrity and sporting justice and will keep the public informed as the case progresses.”
The Appeals Board responsible for the ruling comprises nine members and is chaired by Nigerian judge Roli Daibo Harriman.
