‘Sheikh Yahaya Jingir Said They Should Stop Arresting Fulanis And He’s An Izala Leader’ -Reverend

Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ Nations, has accused Muslim religious authorities of remaining silent after Sheikh Yahaya Jingir publicly stated that security agencies should stop arresting Fulani individuals involved in violent crimes. Sheikh Jingir is a leading figure in the influential Izala sect.

Speaking with News Central TV, Dachomo expressed concern that no government official or Islamic cleric challenged the cleric’s statement. “Sheikh Yahaya Jingir came out and said Fulanis should not be arrested, and he leads Izala, one of Islam’s strongest sects. His followers listen to him completely. No government official challenged him. Not one Islamic cleric criticized him. Everyone kept quiet. He spoke with confidence, and people still claim religion is not involved,” he said.

The clergyman also criticized what he described as the broader silence of Islamic leaders during attacks on Christian communities. He cited the Chibok tragedy and the ongoing captivity of Leah Sharibu as examples of deliberate intimidation against Christians.

Dachomo further highlighted the deadly assault on Dogo Nahawa, where hundreds were reportedly killed and the village left devastated. He argued that these attacks indicate a systematic attempt to terrorize and displace Christian settlements in Plateau State.
