SML sues OSP over alleged unlawful seizure of equipment

Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML) has initiated legal proceedings against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), alleging that it unlawfully seized its servers and equipment during a recent raid on its facilities.

In the lawsuit submitted to the High Court in Accra, SML asserts that the actions of the OSP resulted in the “immediate collapse” of its nationwide petroleum and minerals monitoring system, which the company claims is essential for tracking state revenue.

“The arbitrary seizure of our servers has crippled our operations and jeopardised national monitoring data,” the company articulated in its writ, characterising the conduct of the OSP as a breach of its rights and business integrity.

SML is requesting the court to mandate the prompt return of its confiscated equipment and to declare the actions of the OSP as illegal. Additionally, the company seeks compensation for the disruption inflicted on its operations and reputation.
