“The song has to be sensible” — Wiyaala explains why she doesn’t feature on just any track

Ghanaian singer Wiyaala has shared what truly influences her decision to collaborate with other artistes.

In an interview, she revealed that a song must first resonate with her and carry a meaningful message before she considers jumping on it.

According to Wiyaala, she is intentional about the projects she aligns with. “Even if you’re singing about sex or love, it has to be sensible,” she said, adding that she refuses to feature on songs where it’s clear she is being used as a shortcut for attention.

She noted that some upcoming artistes approach her without any real connection to her craft or values. After engaging them, she often realizes she is not their target collaborator rather, a tool to “start” their journey.

Wiyaala further clarified her definition of a “sensible” song by referencing Patapaa’s viral hit “One Corner,” explaining that she wouldn’t feel comfortable playing such a track in front of respected figures like the President.
