“There Is Actually No Crisis, All These Problems Within The PDP Are Self-Inflicted–Wabara

Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT), has confirmed that the party’s national convention will go ahead as scheduled, despite calls from some members to postpone the event or replace it with a caretaker committee.

Speaking after receiving the PDP Board of Trustees Reconciliation Committee’s report at his Abuja residence, Wabara emphasized that the party’s internal disagreements were largely the result of personal political ambitions rather than deep-rooted divisions. “There is actually no crisis. All these problems within the PDP are self-inflicted. The problem is elective interests, which they have even fixed up till 2031,” he stated.

The Reconciliation Committee, chaired by Ambassador Hassan Adamu with Chief Mike Oghiadomhe as secretary, submitted recommendations urging party members to set aside personal ambitions and uphold unity, collective responsibility, and loyalty to the party constitution. Wabara noted that all critical organs of the PDP, including the National Working Committee (NWC), the Governors’ Forum, and the Board of Trustees, had agreed that the convention would proceed, with the only exception being a valid court order.

The former Senate President reiterated that reconciliation and dialogue remain central to the PDP’s approach in resolving internal conflicts. He called on all members to respect the party’s constitution and support the decisions of its leadership, stressing that the national convention would reinforce unity and position the PDP for future electoral success.
