There Is No Holy War, NSCIA Warns U.S. to Stop Peddling ‘Fake’ Genocide Claims About Nigeria

A major twist has emerged in Nigeria’s religious debate as the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) fires back at the United States over what it calls a “fake genocide narrative” against the country.

According to the NSCIA, claims that Christians are being systematically killed in Nigeria are false, dangerous, and politically motivated — a plot allegedly pushed by foreign lobbyists and American evangelical groups to create religious tension.

Speaking in Abuja, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Council’s Secretary-General, said those spreading the genocide story are twisting Nigeria’s insecurity into a religious war to “gain asylum, attract funding, and destroy national unity.”

He boldly declared:

“This is not a holy war — it’s a crisis of survival caused by poverty, climate change, and criminality.”

Oloyede also accused certain U.S. figures — including those close to former President Donald Trump — of falling for “fabricated stories” and “doctored videos” meant to make Nigeria look like a country at war with Christians.

The NSCIA insists Nigeria’s problems are human, not religious, and urged citizens to resist manipulation from outside forces.

“There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria,” Oloyede said. “What we face is hardship, not holy war.”

The bold statement has set social media buzzing, with many Nigerians asking:
Who’s really behind the ‘genocide’ narrative — truth-tellers or foreign manipulators?
