‘There Was A Time A Serving CDS Was Denied A Visa Officially To Go To The United States’ – Gebi

According to our report, former House of Representatives member Aliyu Gebi has revealed that a serving Chief of Defence Staff was once officially denied a U.S. visa, highlighting historical challenges in Nigeria’s foreign relations.

Speaking to Arise TV, Gebi noted that during the Boko Haram insurgency, Nigeria faced restrictions on procuring weapons, forcing the country to innovate in combating terrorism. He stressed that such challenges are global, not uniquely Nigeria’s, and criticized Trump’s recent labeling of the country as a “Country of Particular Concern.”

Gebi emphasized Nigeria’s sovereign right to maintain independent diplomatic ties. “The U.S. president does not govern Nigeria. If relations with America are unsatisfactory, we can seek partnerships elsewhere,” he said, underlining the country’s commitment to diverse international alliances.
