A resident of Alkalije in the Kilgori District of Yabo Local Government Area, Sokoto State, has described a terrifying attack by armed bandits who reportedly arrived on motorcycles and opened fire without warning. The report was published by Vanguard News on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
The resident said more than a dozen assailants stormed the community, firing indiscriminately. Many residents fled in panic, while some were chased and killed by the attackers. He described the incident as a traumatic experience that will not be easily forgotten.
This attack is part of a broader pattern of insecurity affecting Alkalije and neighboring villages, where bandits regularly carry out raids, kidnappings, and extortion. The armed groups are known to move freely between Sokoto and Kebbi states, leaving communities vulnerable.
“They came on motorcycles, over a dozen of them. They didn’t talk to anyone; they just started shooting,” the resident recounted.
