Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has raised concerns over Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, stressing that the government must safeguard every citizen regardless of religion or tribe.
In a statement reported by Tribune on Saturday, 22 November 2025, Ayodele criticised the handling of recent kidnappings and killings across multiple communities. He noted that despite government assurances and international engagements, armed attacks continue to threaten lives, leaving citizens fearful and questioning the effectiveness of existing security measures.
Ayodele emphasised that security challenges affect the entire population and that the government’s primary duty is to provide tangible protection on the ground. He argued that citizens expect visible action rather than reliance solely on diplomacy or external interventions. “Tinubu has a responsibility to protect every Nigerian regardless of religion or tribe, but what we have seen so far doesn’t seem like the president can do it. Sadly, citizens are losing confidence in their president; it’s totally a shame. If the president can’t solve insecurity, he should resign and let someone who can do it replace him,” he said.
The spiritual leader further warned that the erosion of public trust in leadership contributes to heightened anxiety, with many Nigerians feeling increasingly vulnerable in their daily lives. His remarks underscore the urgency for effective government responses to restore confidence and ensure safety.
