Otunba Segun Showunmi has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action in restoring discipline within his administration. In a post on X, Showunmi expressed concern that many Nigerians are losing hope, not out of dislike for the country, but because of repeated disappointment and poor leadership.
According to Showunmi, Nigeria needs leaders who demonstrate empathy, integrity, and practical action rather than empty speeches or public theatrics. He criticised some of the president’s aides for arrogant and reckless behaviour, noting that their conduct not only embarrasses the government but also corrodes public trust.
“Mr. President, the conduct of your aides and associates is fast eroding public trust. The arrogance, the recklessness, the indecency: all of it is beneath the dignity of the offices they hold and the nation they represent. Their behaviour is not only embarrassing, but it is corrosive,” Showunmi wrote.
He urged the president to act swiftly to correct these issues, stressing that the nation’s patience could turn to anger if the situation persists. Showunmi reminded Tinubu that history will judge him not by the noise of his aides, but by the courage to do what is right for Nigeria.
