Today, in Nigeria, we are all like the blind men trying to describe the elephant – Ahmad Sajoh

Former Adamawa State Commissioner for Information, Ahmad Sajoh, has likened Nigeria’s current situation to the famous parable of the blind men and the elephant, highlighting how fragmented perspectives can distort understanding of national issues. His comments were reported by Symfoni TV.

Sajoh recounted the story in which blind men try to describe an elephant by touching different parts of its body. “The one that held the legs said an elephant is like a tree. Another touched the body and said it’s like a wall. Someone else felt the ear and said a mat, and another held the tail and said a rope,” he explained.

Drawing the analogy to Nigeria, Sajoh said: “Today, in Nigeria, we are all like the blind men trying to describe the elephant.” He emphasized that individuals and groups often view the country’s challenges through narrow perspectives, failing to grasp the full picture.

He urged Nigerians to adopt a collective and holistic approach to understanding the nation’s realities, encouraging citizens to look beyond personal experiences and biases to identify broader solutions.
