According to a NewsVista reporter, Nigeria’s Super Falcons delivered a stunning 5-0 blow to Zambia on Friday night, July 18, booking their spot in the semifinals of the 12th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Osinachi Ohale wasted no time putting Nigeria ahead in the 2nd minute, converting a perfect free kick from Esther Okoronkwo. Okoronkwo later doubled the lead in the 33rd minute with a powerful strike, thanks to a clever pass from Rasheedat Ajibade.
Before halftime, Chinwendu Ihezuo added a third goal with a calm finish after a long ball over the top. The Falcons didn’t slow down in the second half—Esther bagged her second assist, setting up Tosin Demehin for the fourth. Folashade Ijamilusi sealed the win with the fifth goal.
The Super Falcons remain unbeaten and haven’t conceded a single goal in the tournament so far.
Fans erupted on social media, mocking Zambia’s earlier confidence and praising the Nigerian team for backing up their game with action—not talk.
With eyes on a record 10th WAFCON title, Nigeria’s women are proving once again why they’re the queens of African football.
