According to our reporter, Inna Ciroma, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee, has called for a firm and principled leader who can restore the party’s strength and credibility ahead of future elections.
Speaking in an interview with Arise News on Friday, October 24, 2025, Ciroma noted that the PDP is passing through a turbulent phase marked by defections, internal rifts, and electoral disappointments. She stressed that the next national chairman must rebuild confidence and provide a solid foundation for whoever becomes the party’s presidential candidate.
“As far as I’m concerned, PDP needs a chairman who can offer a strong platform for our candidate and not be influenced by personal or external interests,” Ciroma said.
She threw her weight behind Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, describing him as a man of integrity, calmness, and experience. According to her, Turaki’s background as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former minister shows he has the maturity and independence needed to steer the PDP back to greatness.
“We need a chairman who cannot be manipulated, who can stand firm for the party and for Nigeria,” she added, emphasizing that leadership requires courage, discipline, and fairness.
Ciroma expressed confidence that with Turaki’s leadership, the PDP can rebuild unity, strengthen internal democracy, and reclaim its place as a strong opposition ahead of the next general elections.
