Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State, has confirmed the escape of fifty students who were recently abducted by bandits. According to a statement shared by Vanguard on Sunday, November 23, 2025, Yohanna revealed that the students successfully evaded their captors and reunited with their families.
The incident occurred when bandits invaded St. Mary’s Private School in Agwara Local Government Area, abducting several pupils. The escape of fifty students sparked widespread reactions on social media, as the public celebrated the development while anxiously awaiting official confirmation.
Yohanna explained that CAN and church officials were able to verify the students’ safe return by contacting and visiting their parents. “The pupils escaped between Friday and Saturday and have reunited with their parents as they could not return to the school after they escaped. We were able to ascertain this when we decided to contact and visit some parents,” he said.
The successful escape underscores both the bravery of the students and the importance of ongoing vigilance by security agencies in protecting vulnerable communities.
