We were stripped and beaten while terrorists laughed’ — 86 rescued hostages recount 48-hour ordeal

According to our report, troops of Operation HADIN KAI, Joint Task Force North East, rescued 86 civilians abducted by Boko Haram and ISWAP along the Damaturu–Buratai–Biu road in Borno State. The victims, including motorists and passengers, were held for nearly two days before the 135 Special Forces Battalion intercepted the insurgents near Dutsen Kura on November 9, 2025.

Survivors recounted harrowing experiences of beatings, separation from family members, and threats to their lives. Acting on intelligence, troops pursued the insurgents to Mangari, destroying 11 makeshift shelters and recovering vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, and arms.

In a related operation at Mangana, 29 suspected terrorist collaborators were arrested with logistical supplies including fuel, tyres, and medical kits. All operations were executed without troop casualties. Rescued civilians are receiving medical attention, while suspects remain in custody for investigation.
