We Were Told Liver Transplant Was 100M To 110M,But Getting To India,It Was Another Ball Game—Adebajo

Abdulrasaq Owolabi Adebajo, a survivor of kidney and liver disease, has shared the challenges he faced while seeking treatment in India, describing the experience as “another ball game entirely” after months of uncertainty and hardship in Nigeria.

In an interview on Talk To B Podcast on November 11, 2025, Adebajo revealed that although the liver transplant was initially projected to cost between ₦100 million and ₦110 million, the reality upon arrival in India proved far more complex. He was admitted directly to the ICU due to his critical condition after a 16-hour journey, battling severe weakness and swollen legs, and spent seven days under intensive care.

The emergency treatment quickly consumed ₦20 million of the funds they had brought, leaving the family anxious about financing the full procedure. Prior to leaving Nigeria, they had raised around ₦70–₦80 million, money not originally planned for the transplant.

Adebajo also spoke about the bureaucratic hurdles, including embassy requirements and court paperwork. Ultimately, his mother, previously considered ineligible, became his kidney donor, allowing the life-saving procedure to take place.
