What is wrong with Nigeria being a disgraced country? You are with highest number of poor people–Obi

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has urged Nigerians to prioritize addressing the country’s pressing challenges rather than being preoccupied with international perceptions. Speaking on Symfoni TV, Obi responded to concerns about whether Nigeria has been “disgraced” following global criticism over violence against Christians.

Obi encouraged citizens to engage in self-reflection, stressing that internal problems deserve more attention than external opinions. “As a philosopher, one thing that is central to philosophy is that an unexamined life is not worth living. You must go back to yourself and ask yourself,” he said.

Highlighting the nation’s poverty crisis, Obi pointed out that Nigeria has around 130 million people living in poverty—more than the combined number of poor people in India and China, which together have a population of nearly 3 billion. “You have more people living in poverty than the two of them combined, and you’re worried that somebody called you disgraced,” he remarked.

Obi’s message underscores the need for Nigerians and their leaders to focus on domestic solutions and meaningful reforms. More insights from his interview are available on Newshost Buzz.
