Reality TV star and actress Venita Akpofure has shared her perspective on personal boundaries, stressing the importance of being respected rather than simply being liked, especially as a public figure navigating both the entertainment industry and everyday relationships.

Speaking during an interview with Saturday Beats, Venita explained that being overly friendly or easily accessible can sometimes lead to people taking advantage.

According to her, maintaining a certain level of distance is necessary to protect one’s space and preserve respect. She noted that when people become too familiar, they often misinterpret kindness as an open invitation to overstep boundaries.

In her words, she would rather be perceived as “cold” or even unfriendly than risk being taken for granted.

The actress stated that being respected, even if it comes with negative labels, is far more valuable than being liked but disrespected. For her, striking that balance is key to sustaining both personal peace and professional integrity.

Venita also addressed her career journey, particularly her transition from modeling into acting. She clarified that she does not view the move as a reinvention of herself, but rather as a natural expansion of her talents and opportunities.

According to her, growth should not always be framed as starting over, but as building on existing strengths.

She added that remaining relevant in the entertainment industry has not been particularly difficult for her, attributing it to consistency, adaptability, and faith. Rather than chasing trends, she believes in evolving organically while staying true to who she is.

Beyond her career, Venita reflected on personal growth and self-awareness. She revealed that she embraces every version of herself she has been through the years, from childhood to adulthood. Instead of discarding past identities, she sees them as important parts of her journey that continue to shape who she is today.

The actress emphasized that many public figures struggle with periods of inactivity or change, often fearing that stepping back might lead to being forgotten.

However, she believes that such pauses are inevitable and should be embraced rather than feared. According to her, the ability to adapt and “flip the script” when necessary is what keeps individuals relevant in a constantly evolving industry.

Her message ultimately centers on self-respect, growth, and intentional living. By setting clear boundaries and valuing respect over popularity, Venita encourages others both in and outside the spotlight to prioritize their well-being and avoid being defined by public perception.

Through her candid remarks, she offers a reminder that success is not just about visibility or approval, but also about maintaining control over one’s identity and relationships in an increasingly demanding world.
